We’re Excited to Offer 3D Model Services to our Clients

Learn about how this technology can help your site planning and design efforts

When you’re visualizing a new site development, standard photos of the site make it difficult to see many of the potentials and issues within the project. Now with our 3D model services, TGB gives you the ability to really grasp the visuals of your new site and see it as you want it to be.

3D model services: what it’s all about

3D modeling is an innovative technique in computer graphics that allows us to produce stunning three-dimensional digital representations of any object or surface.

With this technology, we’ve been able to help our customers decide how they want their sites and rail projects designed. We take an image of their current layout or existing property and then add in the necessary visuals so they can see the “finished result” of their overall design.

A key advantage of using 3D model services in the early stages of a project is that the leadership team can assess the visual before beginning to build. If something they originally had desired doesn’t appear quite the way they’d envisioned it, we can make alterations until we get the exact look the team is after. The project can then be built to suit.

    Look at some examples

The photo below is the site layout of one of our customers located in Houston. They were considering the possibility of extending their current tracks to their property line as well as adding an additional turnout for a third track that would run parallel to the extended tracks already in place.

Our 3D model team went to work to create the photo you see below. It clearly showed the client what the facility would look like after construction. This was exactly what they wanted, and why they hired TGB to handle this design work.

TGB Group Has Made the Commtrex Rail Service Providers Top 10 List

A great marketing tool and recognition of our commitment to our clients

TGB Group has been recognized among the Top 10 Rail Service Providers on the Commtrex Top 10 Railroad Engineering Services Companies List for March 2021.

The Commtrex Rail Services Directory connects shippers and rail service providers across the U.S. and Canada with an interactive map, comparison features and customized details.

Prime exposure for rail service providers

To give easy access to the best rail industry professionals, Commtrex has developed a set of Top 10 lists based on positive user engagement in its Rail Services Directory and Railcar Storage Marketplace. Each list is routinely updated and includes the major services that shippers and railroaders use to manage their businesses.

Commtrex CEO Martin Lew pointed out that companies advertising with Commtrex have a much greater level of exposure to customers interested in learning more about top rail service providers.

“The Commtrex Rail Services Directory is the go-to resource for shippers and asset owners, who are at the core of our membership base and compose over 65% of the Commtrex community,” Lew said.

He added, “Our Top 10 lists provide both members and the public with the actively engaged service providers available in our Rail Services Directory and Railcar Storage Marketplace. Shippers trust our Top l0 lists as a valuable resource when searching for rail services.”

We’re proud to be added to this list that will be seen by scores of professionals in the rail industry and related industries. The Commtrex directory is a great marketing tool for our team, but being named to the annual Top 10 list is extra-special. It validates our commitment and willingness to “go that extra mile” for our clients.

Jindal Saw USA has contracted with TGB Group for rail-consulting services and other professional services for a new pipe mill at Jindal Saw’s pipe manufacturing and pipe coating facility in Baytown, Texas.

Expansion to the existing facility includes a new 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, new rail connections with Union Pacific Railroad at the north and south ends of the property, service roads, drainage and a new road crossing.

Our design and rail-consulting services will include:

    • Design of over 11,500 feet of track that will include a new siding for the railroads to use
    • Drop and pull tracks for Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway
    • Loading and unloading tracks that will enter the new building
    • Drainage for the new rail
    • A new road crossing for access to an additional piece of the property on the other side of the railroad’s main line.

When design work is completed and approved by the railroads, TGB will provide permitting assistance and construction oversight for the project.

TGB started the rail-consulting project in late June 2019 and is already well on the way to completing the first phase of the Union Pacific Industrial Development process.

Along with professional rail-consulting services, our team will provide preliminary conceptual designs and a proposed operating plan for the railroad’s review.  Upon approval of preliminary drawings, we will continue with the engineering design documents and additional review procedures with Union Pacific and Chambers County to gain final approval for construction of the track portion of the project.

Construction of the project is expected to start in the middle of 2020 and last for about six months.

  • TGB Hired for Track Design Project in Fort Worth, Texas

TGB Hired for Track Design Project in Fort Worth, Texas

Project to include more than 1,000 feet of track, drainage enhancements and connection to an industrial lead track

TGB Group has contracted with Transwestern Asset Services to design a rail spur as part of a track design project for a large international paper and packaging manufacturing client.  The project is located in the Railhead Industrial Park in north Fort Worth and will be connected to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.

Design for the project was completed in January 2019.  The design included drainage enhancements to the existing site, more than 1,000 feet of track, a concrete road crossing and connection to an existing BNSF-served industrial lead track.  Our track design project team worked with the railroad to fast-track the approval to meet our client’s deadline.

TGB obtained pricing and awarded the contract to New York- and Texas-based RailWorks, which is responsible for track construction, and Shackelford Construction & Hauling, LLC, of Yazoo City, Miss., which will manage civil construction.  Current plans call for construction of the track design project to start in late February or early March 2019.

In addition to providing comprehensive design services for this track design project in Texas, TGB personnel will be present at the site during construction to oversee the project, making sure it is built according to our client’s specifications.

    About Railhead Industrial Park

Railhead Industrial Park is the only industrial complex that offers dual rail service in north Texas.  The west side of the park is bordered by Union Pacific Railroad; Burlington Northern Santa Fe and a primary NAFTA operations yard can be directly accessed on the east side of the park.  When completely built, the park will cover 583.5 acres with about 10 million square feet of office, industrial and warehouse space.
