Improved Employee/Employer Relations Will Help Get Us Through

Jobs are important, especially in this pandemic economy

As we move ahead into 2021, we understand more than ever what a blessing it is to have a company and to keep on working.  Employees who still have gainful work also should be grateful.  Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case, and employee/employer relations are suffering in some sectors.

A job can be a great learning experience.  Learning all sides of the business you serve is not only essential to the work you perform but also because you’re gaining valuable experience every day and making yourself a more valuable employee.

It’s sad that some employees – especially in this . . . unusual economy we’re all in – would say, “that task is beneath me.”  Why do some people feel that way?  Ego is one possible answer.  Also, they may have a false sense of entitlement.  They also may not have learned to have respect for their job and the people who sign their paychecks.  This must change.

Good employee/employer relations benefit everyone

Any of those above attitudes not only can cost the employee his or her job, but poor attitudes also can cause the company to lose business.  A person’s attitude is always visible, and other people pick up on it.  If you’re an employee who is letting ego or entitlement get in the way of your performance, know that you may be negatively affecting the very company that pays you.

There is so much unemployment these days, and there are many people who would do just about anything to have a job and be able to earn money to take care of themselves and their families.  And yet, many people who are blessed with jobs go about their work in a way that shows no respect for their fellow employees, their employers and their jobs.

Every job has value.  In most cases, you have to start fairly low in order to work up to better positions and better pay.  It’s important for younger people entering the workforce to understand that a job is a contract: you provide certain services, and your employer pays you for them.  But it’s the decision of the employers as to what those services will be, not the employees.

We hope that everyone can move ahead during this pandemic and all that it has caused and simply focus on doing good work, being respectful, being part of the solution and keeping a positive attitude during these crazy times. This type of employee/employer relations will benefit everyone concerned.

Let’s have more teamwork and cooperation

At the TGB Group, we know that to be successful in your job, you can’t consider certain tasks “beneath you.”  We’re all part of a team, and everyone’s work is equally important in the long run.

We don’t mean to sound “preachy,” but employee/employer relations is a serious subject that every business needs to stay on top of in order to continue to have a viable place in our pandemic economy.
