Olathe, Kansas, project involves topographic survey, design and permitting
TGB Group engineering and design team was contacted to provide professional topographic survey and construction staking for the Timberlane Substation design and survey project as part of our on-call services provided to Bettis Asphalt.
Our team was originally tasked with the topo and construction staking for a 10-foot-tall concrete perimeter wall for the substation. While in the field, it became apparent that the plans provided by another civil engineering company did not work with the conditions in the field. We solved the problem by working with the client to provide stakes that met the client’s criteria. Bettis Asphalt also requested the design and permitting of two concrete entrances to the site.
The project was completed for a site that was developed in an existing electrical substation in the city of Olathe, Kansas.
Our civil engineering design team provided the topographic survey, site design services, construction staking and permitting for the Timberlane Substation project.
Additional specs, components and tasks for the Timberlane Substation project included:
- More than 500 feet of concrete wall including 42 columns.
- Design of a concrete drive with a total area of 91 square yards
- Redesign of an existing concrete drive measuring 42 square yards
- Submission of site plans for both drives to the City of Olathe for permitting
After our team completed the survey work for the project, construction was begun in May 2019. The project is expected to be completed by the end 2019.
TGB Group was brought into the design and survey project in the spring of 2019 to provide topographic survey site plans, civil design and construction staking. This is one of many projects where we not only provide professional survey and design services but also make sound decisions on how to deal with unexpected occurrences in order to deliver results that perfectly meet our clients’ specifications.
